"귀신이 곡할 노릇[GUISHIN E GOKHAL NORUT]" is a proverb.

People don't know much these days, but "곡[GOK]+하다 [HADA]" refers to crying loudly while making a constant sound when performing a memorial service or funeral.

They usually cry, saying "아이고[AIGO]".

Someone cried in tears, but usually, they made a crying sound as if they are singing a sad song with a constant intensity and speed.

It's about mourning the dead and being polite.

In the past, I heard that the louder I sang, the more filial son and filial son.

Then how about imagining a ghost singing?

It doesn't make sense, does it?

That's why "귀신이 곡할 노릇" is used in a ridiculous situation when something impossible happens.

Usually, people use this word a lot when they don't understand or when they can't believe it.

For example, if the coat that I just took off and hung is gone, I say this.

"Oh, I just hung it up here. Where is it? "귀신이 곡할 노릇이네"
